Hi, I’m Alex Mills. Many people know me better as Viper007Bond or just “Viper” though.
I’m a Portland, Oregon WordPress developer who works for an awesome company called Automattic. We’re most known for our WordPress.com blogging network.
In my free time, I write WordPress plugins (for the self-hosted version of WordPress aka WordPress.org). A write lot of them (the most of anyone on WordPress.org last I looked). I also contribute to the WordPress.org core.
I’m really into cars and a British automotive television show called Top Gear. In my free time, I run an extremely popular fansite for the show called FinalGear.com.
About My Username
Yes, I’m quite aware “Viper007Bond” is rather dorky and sounds like it was created by a 13 year old. Well that’s because it was! Way, way back in the day when I was first getting online, I had to chose an AOL username. I chose one that combined my two favorite things — the Dodge Viper and James Bond. Ever since then it has been the nickname that I have been most known by, even more so than my real name. I’ll often introduce myself as Alex Mills to people I’ve met through the WordPress or automotive community and get a confused look in return. After stating that they may also know me as Viper007Bond, that’s when they put 2 and 2 together and remember me.
So I’m stuck with it! But that’s okay, it’s not a terrible username. 🙂
