2001 Ford Mustang GT Coupe

Purchased at the very end of July 2011, this is what I consider my first real car. I drove a beater for a few months before this but that was only to practice driving a stick and avoid wearing out the clutch of a good car.

I bought this car specifically to get used to a (relatively) powerful rear-wheel drive car while not spending too much money. A Mustang of this generation seemed to be the general consensus when I asked the members of my forums what I should buy.

Car Stats

The car is 100% stock except for a stereo modification that I did so that I could hook my iPhone up to it.

Purchase Price: About $9800 (I forget the exact price)
Purchase Mileage: 54xxx miles (low mileage for a 10 year old car!)

Engine: 4.6L (281 cubic inches) V8
Claimed Horsepower: 260 hp (194 kW; 264 PS) at 5250 RPM
Claimed Torque: 302 lb·ft (409 N·m) at 4000 RPM
Transmission: 5-speed manual

My Stats

Miles Driven: 10,218.1
Average MPG: 14.2 via 718.38 gallons
Total Spent On Fuel: $4,377.04 ($0.43 per mile)

Photos

I have never gotten around to taking many of my own photos of the car so here’s some from the dealer’s online listing. The first image is of my awesome “IM STIG” license plates though, in reference to Top Gear’s The Stig.

  2. Hi Alex,

Fellow Automattician here. We never worked on a project together or got a chance to hang out much in person, but I’ve always admired you for the sheer number of plugins and code you gave the WordPress community. As I followed your battle with cancer, I admired you even more.

Thank you for what you’ve given us, in legacy and spirit.
