Today we drove south some more on 101 and 1 through Santa Barbara and Malibu, and then up through a canyon above Malibu. Amazing road.

Tomorrow we’re headed through the hills of Angeles National Forest and then onto our final destination of San Diego!

The stereotypes about LA traffic are totally true by the way so that’s why we’re avoiding the main part of LA like the plague.

For the night, we’re in a small, classic 50’s or 60’s motel that has been recently renovated. Small rooms but barely anyone here and within walking distance of town so it’s alright. Tomorrow we’re heading to just north of Los Angeles.

Today was supposed to be a shorter drive but we ended up stopping quite a few times to check out the amazing views. We made it to the hotel before dusk though and that was the important part in order to avoid deer.

After a very long day and then a night of slow driving dodging deer, we finally made it to our hotel for the night. At 375 miles, today should be the longest segment of our trip — no more 13 hour days thankfully.

I’m currently sitting in the Viper with Stephane and the top down on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere staring at a cloudless star-filled night sky. So beautiful. Stephane just spotted a shooting star too. We haven’t seen another car for at least an hour, probably closer to two. This is an awesome road trip so far.
