Dashboard Widget Manager

Discontinuation Notice:

WordPress 2.7 features a fully widgetized dashboard and allows you to hide widgets you don’t want to see. As a result, this plugin is now deprecated. I will however probably be releasing other plugins in the future to enhance the 2.7 dashboard (even more widgets, etc.).

Description:

WordPress 2.5 introduces a widgetized dashboard, but unfortunately no manager for it to rearrange and remove widgets. This plugin fills that need by creating a new admin page very similiar to the new sidebar widget manager.

Additionally, it makes it so that widget options as well as the order is stored on a per-user basis. This is great for those multi-user blogs.

Known Bugs:

Most widgets will show up with a double title on this plugin’s management page. This is a WordPress bug, one I can’t work around. Don’t worry though, it doesn’t affect your actual dashboard.

  2. Hi!

It´s a pitty that this awesome plugin isnt developed further… I now wordpress 2.7 has a fully widgetizable dashboard, but there´s no option to make one dashboard for all users (that it looks the same for all users). This was a big advantage of your plugin.

I may make a new, different plugin to replicate some of the features this plugin added (like the one you mentioned) for WordPress 2.7, but I doubt it’ll be any time soon. Too busy.

  4. Hi WP 2.7 has no technorati backlinks link, no text widgets option

    your plugin was very helpful

you thought WP 2.7 has no dashboard widgets
maybe –but no link to google blog search -as before
no incoming links from technorati -as before
    I can’t create a text widget – as before
    I’m not happy 🙁

    please update your plugin
    reagards

  5. excellent plugin…but really “it is REQUIRED for 2.7!” Well at least I think it is.

Being able to select the default screen options for users would be an amazing feature. I have heard from many first time users that the dashboard is intimidating. It would be nice to just have a customized welcome message.

Yes, I am aware of some plugins that redirect the user or remove the dashboard, but this is not the same.

I eagerly await your next projects! Keep up the great coding!!!

  6. Well, this is kind of what I’ve been looking for – I’ll put it to the test right away…

I’m really wanting a plugin like this as well. When developing with WordPress for a client site, I want to set what the clients will see on the dashboard.

  8. Thats the function I want to. I really dont want to log in each time a client adds another user to set what they should see.
