2. It seems the 6.1.0 prevent me from using visual editor. The tag button is there, but I can’t move from the HTML mode in my editor. The 5.4.* version working fine before. Tried to clear the cache with no effect. Any idea?

Thanks before.

3. Hello, it’s me again. I love this plug-in and I love using it, but today something weird happened which I think should be fixed ASAP in order for others to continue using it.

It’s incompatible with NextGen Gallery plug-in!!! and it seems I’m not the only one with this issue: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/196908

As I said, I love this script and would not want to have to remove it. Please take a look at it and release a patch as soon as you find some time. Thank you and keep up the great work.

If there’s anything I can do to help you get Brightcove support in there, let me know. My folks are eager for Brightcove support. FWIW, I started hacking my own version of Viper’s Video Quicktags 6.0.3, to see if I could do it myself, and I haven’t gotten it working either (the Brightcove button doesn’t show up in TinyMCE, but it shows up in the VVQ settings page). I would need to work on getting the Brightcove parameters in)

As for feedback on Viper’s Video Quicktags 6.1.0, here you go… I’m pretty impressed with how you’ve been able to support Anarchy Media Player’s quicktags. Out of 10 tests from older posts, 8 seem to work fine. The other two actually link to web pages which load Flash or SWF content, so I consider that a complete success. If you’d like me to send you the other two links offline, I can, but I don’t think it’s necessary.

I created a post including all of the examples in the pre-6.1.0 realm of possibility, as well as all of the iterations of Anarchy Media Player I was able to find, and the following are the items which don’t work (tested in Firefox for Mac & Win, Safari 3 (Mac & Win), IE6, IE7, Opera 9.2 (Mac), 9.5 (Mac & Win):

NOTE:
I inserted ‘ – ‘ willy nilly in the quicktag below, to hopefully ensure they don’t render.
– Viddler – doesn’t work for me in 6.0.3 or 6.1.0: [vid – dler id=fad7437b&w=437&h=370] outputting this error instead: [ERROR: An invalid Viddler shortcode format was used. Please check your code.]
– Vimeo – it works, but ‘The video is unavailable’ is displayed in the player window.

Aside from the above issue (and a couple of others related to the km – l_flashembed lines loading HTML files instead of Flash or SWF files), everything looks pretty good.

Thanks for a great product and your quick responses!

Confirmed. Will fix.
Please take a look at it and release a patch as soon as you find some time. Thank you and keep up the great work.
I can’t, it’s NextGEN that needs a patch. It’s using an old version of SWFObject that is incompatible with the newer version that my plugin uses.

See this thread: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/201692

Don’t worry, my plugin doesn’t enable commenters to post videos. It could with some additional filters, but it doesn’t by default.

I’ll look into the Viddler issue.

kml_flashembed works fine here (I think).

I’ve got most of the Brightcove support in 6.1.1, but I’m having trouble getting the TinyMCE button to show up (the image is in the right place, but it doesn’t draw the clickable button).

Once I add that, I figure I can add the necessary code…

Let me know how I can help. If you need my contact info, give me a shout here in the forum.

Thanks!!!!

Did you write a shortcode function? If so, I’d be interested in seeing that. 🙂

E-mail it to me:

I can handle the button, etc.

9.
It seems like your plugin has trouble dealing with some YouTube videos, in that it embedds the videos but when you try to play them you get an error saying that the video isn’t available…when it is.
Seems the problem is related to trying to use the high quality version of the video if it’s available. This is the first time I’ve seen such an issue. Normally YouTube just serves up the low quality version if there’s no high quality version. Apparently though that doesn’t work for some videos.

Opting for low-quality on this plugin’s settings page will fix the problem, as will forcing low quality on that one particular embed:

11. Hi Viper, firstly, i wanna thank you for the great plugin you have created.

however, I have run into some problems. mainly the “video isn’t available problem”. I have tried the solution you provided, using the quality=”0″ and setting the low quality option in the settings page but to no avail. pls help!

i am using the latest version of wordpress and your plugin. only some vidoes have this problem. others don’t.

Try Settings -> Video Quicktags -> YouTube and opting for low resolution across the board.

13. Hi Viper, I have tried that option to but to no avail as mentioned in my first comment. I am clueless even after searching the forums.

Go to this page and select “Low quality FLV” from the quality dropdown.

18.
Yes, it has been done earlier before I posted my first comment, to no avail. Even after refreshing the post/page.
Oh, I just realized what the problem is. You’re trying to embed videos that have embedding disabled. The BBC ones for example don’t allow it.

19. Oh darn… I didn’t know Youtube could do that… Man, BBC is mean!!! Any idea for a get around? If not, I just gotta put a link. Crap.

Thanks for the help!!!

22. why your plugin “freezer” my TinyMCE editor?

i use wp 2.6.1 and plugin version 6.1.1

It shouldn’t. Thousands of people use it with no problems. Perhaps another plugin is at fault.

Dear friend,
I tried to disable all plugins and then to activate your plugin.
When I activated your plugin my TinyMCE editor becomes all white (empty! Without buttons).
If I turn off your plugin TinyMCE my editor back to work.
So, I assume that there is any problem with your plugin.
How can I find a solution?

29. I am having a similar problem to Mark since upgrading to the newest version….

My video posts, from YouTube, now only show the preview of the video, with no play button, and below the video, is this text…

swfobject.embedSWF(”http://www.youtube.com/v/Oh4EPcOpSy8&border=1&rel=1&fs=1&ap=%2526fmt%3D18?, “vvq48f4f82782a82?, “425?, “335?, “9?, vvqexpressinstall, vvqflashvars, vvqparams, vvqattributes);

or something similar…

eek!

WP 2.6.2

…also…rolling back to 6.1.0 did not seem to help…

Disable all other plugins. If that fixes it, enable them one by one to see which is causing the problems.

32. The blip.tv include doesn’t appear to be working, at least it wasn’t for me. When using my video ID I’d see a video that wasn’t mine. I also tried using the ID provided in Blip’s official embed code, but this didn’t work with this plugin.

Here is a fix, the url is now simpler, and requires the ID from the Blip.tv embed popup.

Line 3094

Change
$this->swfobjects[$objectid] = array( 'width' => $atts['width'], 'height' => $atts['height'], 'url' => 'http://blip.tv/scripts/flash/showplayer.swf?file=http://blip.tv/rss/flash/' . $videoid );

To
$this->swfobjects[$objectid] = array( 'width' => $atts['width'], 'height' => $atts['height'], 'url' => 'http://blip.tv/play/' . $videoid );

Keep up the good work Viper, this plugin has been very useful.

33. Viper…

it appears that the conflict is happening because of the Advanced Excerpt plugin. I should have been more clear that the problem was occurring only on PREVIEW pages, where the advanced excerpt plugin is pulling in and showing HTML content.

when i click to go to the actual POST, it looks like everything is just fine.

I will look to see if I’ve recently updated that plugin, but I think it has pretty much been dormant for a while now, so I’m not sure what all of a sudden caused the trouble.

34. We have an issue with VVQ object elements being barely too wide for our layout. We could solve the issue by applying a max-width: 500px or width: 500px to a block-level element surrounding the VVQ shortcode replacement. Unfortunately, Viper’s Video Quicktags wraps the video in an inline span, which does not allow block-level css properties.

Any chance VVQ could wrap it with a DIV (or other block-level element) instead of a SPAN, or provide an option to do that? I’d like to give my vvq elements a max-width, so they don’t blow out my page.

I’m thinking something like this on the ‘Additional Settings’ tab:

[ ] Use [div] instead of [span] for wrapper

It would default to OFF and work the way it currently does, but would enable the option of wrapping the element in a block-level DIV, if desired.

35.
Any chance VVQ could wrap it with a DIV (or other block-level element) instead of a SPAN, or provide an option to do that? I’d like to give my vvq elements a max-width, so they don’t blow out my page.
Span was used on purpose. If someone does this:

Cool video:

It will break validation with a DIV.

Plus you can just do “display: block” with the span as I already have done. I also have already done “max-width:100%” which should make the video not go outside your content container, at least in Firefox. And on top of all of that, you can set the default width to be narrower than your content column by visiting this plugin’s settings page.

Okay well you’d have to talk to the author of that plugin or whatever. I don’t provide support for other plugins (i.e. the fault is not with my plugin).

37. As best as i can tell, it wasn’t something with your plugin, but it is odd that it started happening suddenly.

However, I did also recently upgrade to 2.6.2, so I’m thinking that may have more to do with it than EITHER plugin…or at the very least it is a combination of how they all play together.
