1. Hi. I have WP polls on my site as well as your great plug-in. For a while I have a post.php problem and have been trying to figure out who is conflicting. Today I received the following error via firebug on foxfire:

uncaught exception: [Exception… “Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIDOMNSHTMLDocument.execCommand]” nsresult: “0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)” location: “JS frame :: http://www.green-talk.com/wp-includes/js/tinymce/tiny_mce_gzip.php?ver=20070528&theme=advanced&language=en&plugins=inlinepopups%2Cautosave%2Cspellchecker%2Cpaste%2Cwordpress%2Cbold%2Cvipersvideoquicktags&lang=en&index=0 :: anonymous :: line 171″ data: no]

It always happend when the program is autosaving. Any suggestions?

3. Hia,

This plug-in is fantastic but I do have a problem.

I have tried adding a WMV file to my post using the plug-in. The problem is that under Firefox 2.0.0.11 the player is not rendered. It works fine under Internet Explorer 7. The post is at http://www.greftek.net/blog/personal/blue-man-group-the-complex-rock-tour/

I have very little experience embedding video so I was wondering if it is something I did wrong, if it is an incompatibility issue or whether it is caused by a bug.

I’d appreciate it if you could help me out. Thanks.

4. Thank you, Thank you.

I don’t know exactly what javascript trick you’re using to embed the video’s but thank you. Using YouTube’s default embed tags, my theme was really screwed up. divs moved all over the place. But with your plugin, the video appeared exactly where I wanted it the first time.

Thank you.
Bryan

5. Support requests belong at my forums please. 😉

Make sure you kept the file structure intact and correct when uploading.

6. Hi! Great plugin for starting up.
I would like to ask if is it impossible to put Youtube or vimeo’s videos running fullscreen as they do on their own sites.
Thanks a lot!

7. I really love this plug in but….
Is anybody experienced that this plug in conflict with the pingback / trackback built in wordpress?
I use default theme for testing, pingback/trackback can’t work when I only turn on viper video quicktags plugin.
Did I do something wrong or how can I fix this?

8. Are you crashing peoples’ Windows IE on purpose? Cute little message, but you can cause a lot more damage than that. I’m going to look up whether there are criminal sanctions for this behavior. This is really dumb, though.

9. Hey there, Viper!

Really awesome plugin mate, top notch. Just wondering if there is a way to get the YouTube moves to show up in the RSS feed. The link shows up which is cool but if the embed code worked in the rss feeds that would be doubly excellent.

Take care

What the hell are you talking about?

It’d break your feed.

11. I’m having trouble with IE 7. My QT pages load fine in Firefox and Safari, but not IE. In IE 6 at work, the movie seems to load, although very slow, but when I try to navigate away from that page the browser locks up. In IE 7 here at home, the page loads fine, nice and fast, but the movie doesn’t load, just shows a broken QT symbol. If I load a page from Apple/trailers with a movie on the page, all works fine. Can you help. http://www.clydebeamer.com/?page_id=103 for example.

12.
Seems like a pretty LAME response from someone who wrote a plugin to embed quictimes into pages…
Well then don’t use my plugin. Sorry my FREE plugin isn’t up to your standards.

And if you want to get mad at someone, get mad at Apple for making a retarded embedding solution. They want me to use <embed> and a bunch of other non-existent HTML tags and even then, it doesn’t work right sometimes.

So yeah, fuck off Clyde.

EDIT: And for the record, I didn’t write this plugin to embed QT or WMV videos. I wrote it for YouTube, etc. with QT/WMV as an afterthought due to requests.

13. Clyde get the fuck off. If you don’t like it loose it, don’t come and ruin somebody’s work.
You don’t have the right to complain about anything simply because you didn’t pay for it!

15. Hi Viper,

Thanks for making this plugin. Don’t let the negative comments get to ya. By the way, I wonder why when I activate the plugin (latest version) it don’t show up in the built in wysiwyg editor..Am using WordPress 2.3.3

I’ve used older versions without problem.

Works for me. Try clearing your browser cache.

19. Hi,

I use version 5.4.1, but no buttons are showing in the editor. Plug-in works though.

Thanx,

Jurjen74

20. Buttons not working: your browser is caching TinyMCE. Delete it’s cache. I tested it in both Firefox and I believe IE7 and it worked fine.

Fatal error: this is a conflict with another plugin (I think any other one using Buttonsnap). I’m aware of the issue and I’m looking into it.

21. holé,

yes viper, there is a conflict with cforms2 . when cforms2 is not activate, quicktags works great 🙂

22. Okay guys, I know there are troubles with the plugin.

The plugin itself works just fine in WordPress 2.5, but only if it’s running on it’s own. I still haven’t figured out why, so meanwhile, deactivate all other plugins and then activate my plugin first! You can then hopefully activate all other plugins.

The problem seems to stem around a conflict with other plugins using the “ButtonSnap” script that adds buttons to the non-TinyMCE editor.

I’m looking into it. Comments closed meanwhile.

23. Okay, I just rolled out version 5.4.2 of my plugin. I couldn’t seem to reproduce on demand any of the errors people were reporting with version 5.4.1, but 5.4.2 takes some extra precautions to hopefully avoid any problems.

If you encounter any errors with version 5.4.2, let me know on this other blog post, not here. Thanks.

24. Viper, you are a PRINCE AMONG MEN! I have been having much frustration getting videos to fit in my size post. After trying 3 other WP Plugins, I reverted to just raw HTML and praying for the best.

Your plug in is super easy, and I LOVE that I could select the width and the height would self configure. Also, the buttons on the editor. Now I can finally put up my video page again… Without videos running into my sidebar and looking sloppy.

YOU ROCK!

25. I’ve got a suggestion for how video links display in RSS feeds. For the longest time, the default build of your plug-in has just dropped in the URL to the video and a big empty hole that’s the size of the video in RSS feeds. So I always find myself having to modify the code to fix this presentation issue. Here’s how I end up hacking it, but I’m sure there’s a cleaner way…
========================================
Right after:
do_action( ‘vvq_flashprereplace’ );

I add the following:
$linktext = ‘click to view this video clip’; //this changes the display URLs to something more friendly
if ( !is_feed() ) {
$content = preg_replace(‘/’ . preg_quote($matchstring, ‘/’) . ‘/’, ‘‘ . $linktext . ‘‘, $content, 1);
} else { //modified layout for feeds to not add extra spacing
$content = preg_replace(‘/’ . preg_quote($matchstring, ‘/’) . ‘/’, ‘‘ . $linktext . ‘‘, $content, 1);
}

========================================
That seems to do the trick, but I’m hoping you can fix this in the core codebase at some point, and maybe make the display URL configurable to either the URL or arbitrary text.

26. Whoops, looks like wordpress munged my code. Here goes again…

$linktext = 'click to view this video clip';
if ( !is_feed() ) {
$content = preg_replace('/' . preg_quote($matchstring, '/') . '/', '' . $linktext . '', $content, 1);
} else { //modified layout for feeds to not add extra spacing
$content = preg_replace('/' . preg_quote($matchstring, '/') . '/', '' . $linktext . '', $content, 1);
}

27. Don’t try to use the code above — wordpress keeps modifying it when I comment.

Basically, what I do is say if it’s not a feed, swap out the style tags in the div with something else that’s not automatically the size of the video clip, and to replace $linktext with something more enticing, like “click here to view this video clip”.
