  1. Hi,
    Cool Plugin,
first, i have two feature requests,
    1. A direkt link option, for example directfunnycat (link to youtube) under the video
    2. Have a “via” option, a link to the blog throu i originally get the video.
I know this coud be solved manualy, but a direct implementation woud be more handy.

second, there seams to be an issue with the new “twentyten” wordpress theme,
if i open a categroy page or filter by tags, the videos won’t be embedded.
It is an issue with the theme, cause other plugins have the same problems.

Other themes work without this issue, but i feel comfortable with the “twentyten” theme.

  2. Hi to everyone.

I want to say great pluggin first of all.

Would it be possible to integrate a video site that allows you to put subtitles from other video sites.

Example overstream.net or any other site that would offer a similar service.

    Thank you

  4. I’m having a strange issue when activating your plugin. In Firefox, Visual Editor doesn’t show up, just HTML buttons show up. In Chrome, post edit button doesn’t load at all. Just blank white screen.

I disabled and enabled your plugin to verify, and it seems to cause this. I saw something in the comments similar to this and you posted about changing row. I tried this for 3rd and 2nd row, with only 3 buttons active.

    Any thoughts on this?

  6. I’m a newbie to WordPress. I’m running a private friends and family site and previously have been using a different plugin to embed Quicktime video. But now I am considering switching formats to .flv to show flash video on the site. I can embed the video and have it recognized, but when I try to play it the player will only play about 1 second and then give up. I really need some help and would be happy to donate if I can get this to work. If I ought to be using .mp4 or H.264 (I’m sure I am botching all of these terms), I would be glad to do that as well. My bottom line is that I have .mov files from a Panasonic digital camera and .mp4 files from a FlipHD that I want to get on my self-hosted site, and I’d prefer not to put them on Youtube, etc. Thanks a million.

    • Flash players should be able to play those MP4 files without any modification I think. Just do [flv]http://site.com/path/to/video.mp4[/flv] and I think it’ll work fine.

As for the MOVs that have been converted to FLVs, have you tried playing them on your computer first to see if it’s an issue with the video file itself? VLC should be able to play them.

  7. I have been using this plugin for well over a year now and I just wanted to say THANKS for creating a plugin which doesn’t jeopardize my markup 🙂

    Cheers!

  8. My 3 videos appear one after another. (different rows)
Is there a way to make the 3 videos or 2 appear on a single row? (2 columns)
    Thanks.

  9. Hi,
Can you show me how the code should look if I want to add a thumbnail image of my video? What’s the process to make that happen?
    Thanks 🙂
    M

  10. Can you add Exposure Room to this plugin? I have all my videos hosted here and I REALLY want to use your plugin with ER!!

    • The addition of additional video sites is currently on hold while I work on a new version of this plugin.

You can just manually paste the HTML into the HTML view of the editor meanwhile.

  11. Hey you.

First thanks for a grat plugin, it works,-)
But i have this problem, when i use it in a post .. it´s like a big space under the video! Maybe i miss somthing, not that strong in wordpress yes, btw i use Woo Thems

  20. Thanks for this plugin!
Do you have any plans for Thickbox of Lightbox integration with some easy way to generate thumbnails with a play button? That would be fantastic!

  21. Is it possible to post videos from the website Worldstarhiphop.com?

I love the plugin, thanks the work that you do!

  23. I bought a commercial license for JW Player and I just replaced the free version of ‘player.swf’ (included in VVQT) with the commercial version.

I’m concerned that any upgrades of VVQT will overwrite my files. Is there a way to prevent VVQT from replacing the commercial version with the free version during upgrades?

  24. First of all allow me to say that I love the program and this is by far the best plugin that I’ve used with WP.

Second I posted on the WP forum too but I see that you answer questions here too so I apologize if this wasn’t the correct place to post this question.

Is it possible to get my text either directly above/below the video instead of my video and text being two different posts on the same page?

  25. I have the same problem with Paolo, My vimeo videos cannot load anymore since today this morning. Is there any fix?

Thank you for you wonderful plug-in!

  26. well yeah, NICE to see that vimeo is no universal/html5 and supporting mobile browsers! …but right now I’m just evaluating if it’ll be neccessary to manually embed all embeds on all sites very quickly now ;)… thx for any update/advice!

  27. Has anyone had a problem with version 6.3 disabling the visual editor? I’m currently running 3.0 & the Genesis framework, along with the following plugins: Announcement and vertical scroll news, Contact Form 7, Genesis Simple Hooks and WP-Cycle. This only happens when I activate Video Quicktags & the visual editor comes back once it’s deactivated. The end user client needs the visual editor, & I would like for them to be able to use the visual menu options of the video plugin…help 😉

  28. Hello Viper,

thanks for the great plugin, I have been using it without any issues and it is easy to use even for me on my tiny blog 😀 Just wanted to express my gratitude!

You mentioned above that you were working on a new version, I can’t wait till its released to include the new embed functions.

    Thanks for your work!

    Michael

  29. Hello Viper,

My website uses WordPress 3.0 and your plugin. I see these update messages in the dashboard:

    Viper’s Video Quicktags
You have version 6.2.17 installed. Update to 6.3.0.
Compatibility with WordPress 3.0: 100% (according to its author)
    Compatibility with WordPress 3.0.1: Unknown

I want to upgrade and I believe the correct sequence to upgrade is to:
    1. Update to Quicktags 6.3.0 first, then
    2. Update to WordPress 3.0.1

As you are the author of the Quicktags plugin and work for Automattic as well, can you inform us (your blog readers) whether Quicktags 6.3.0 is compatible with WordPress 3.0.1 i.e. they work together without problems?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

    • If a plugin is compatible with a major version number, it’s highly unlikely that it would be incompatible with a minor release, i.e. since my plugin is compatible with 3.0.0, it’s almost for certain that it’s compatible with 3.0.1 and with 3.0.2 such a version exists in the future. 🙂 I’ve just now updated the readme file to mark my plugin as 3.0.1 compatible though.

As for upgrade order, it’s best to do WordPress first, but it doesn’t matter a lot.

  31. Hello Viper (Alex),

I upgraded all my outdated plugins including your Viper’s Video Quicktags plugin. Everything seems to function OK. I upgraded all the plugins first. I have not yet upgraded from WordPress 3.0 to 3.0.1. I’m a bit apprehensive about going from 3.0 to 3.0.1 that there might be some irrecoverable problem that would cause my website to not function or crash or worse, that I might loose data. It should be obvious, I guess, that I’ve never done a WordPress upgrade before.

Oh I forget to say thanks for your plugin in my previous query.

Thank you for your awesome plugin.

    • It’s very safe to assume that minor version updates, such as from 3.0.0 to 3.0.1, will not break anything. They are just minor updates that are released to fix bugs or security issues (bugs in this case).

Major version upgrades are when things are more likely to break, but even then 99% of plugins will continue working just fine. You can have peace of mind by performing a backup of your site before upgrading (always a good idea).
